Lionel Hardcastle is a retired author, who served in the Korean war. He is married to his second wife, Jean Hardcastle.
Lionel Hardcastle was drafted during the Korean War. During his service, while he was still in England he fell in love with Jean Pargetter. When he left to fight in Korea he promised he would write to Jean, though when he sent the letter, the letter was lost by the mail service and later placed in the Imperial War Museum. He would later retire to Kenya where he ran a coffee plantation. He would raise the family of a worker, Joseph, that had died. Later in life he returned to England and wrote a book on his life in Kenya called "My Life in Kenya".
